History

Born from the past, built for the present

Standing tall at 24 Adly Street, the Marcel Pissarro Building – now known as Layal – embodies a legacy of ambition and transformation. Built in 1930 during Downtown Cairo’s golden age, it reflects the Art Deco style through bold geometric forms and curved ornamental windows. Originally owned by Menasché Mayer, the building rises six floors high.

The Process

Restoration Process

In 2010, Al Ismaelia acquired Layal, recognizing its architectural and cultural value. Now operated by Lemon Spaces, it has been reimagined as serviced apartments for modern travelers—stylish, fully furnished, and designed for comfort and sophistication. With curated amenities and personalized service, Layal offers a refined home away from home in the heart of Cairo.
