Discovering Downtown Cairo
Stemming from our passion to share the story of Downtown with everyone, Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment launched Cairo Downtown Walking Tours (D-TOUR) in 2015 which is a free guided weekly tour inviting locals and tourists alike to discover Downtown Cairo’s hidden gems.
D-CAF
Co-founded by Al Ismaelia and Orient Production in 2012, D-CAF is Downtown’s first multi-disciplinary contemporary arts festival dedicated to attract Egyptian, Regional and International artists from across disciplines to share their work. With over 90 events, D-CAF has become an annual interactive platform for International producers to discover the works and talent of Arab artists.
KHOTOUT WEST EL BALAD
Reviving Downtown Cairo’s Calligraphy
Launched in collaboration with JWT an Advertising Agency in 2015, ‘‘Khotout West El Balad’ is an inspiring initiative aimed at preserving the calligraphic heritage of Downtown Cairo by reviving the typefaces used around the neighborhood to reintroduce them in a contemporary light. The collaboration resulted in bringing 6 new fonts to the digital sphere, available for free downloads, earning the project multiple global and regional awards in Cannes Lions 2016, Dubai Lynx 2016, D&AD, and Clio Awards.
DAKHLI
Dakhli West El Balad is the first specialized locations platform launched in 2016 with the objective of providing local and international artists and filmmakers with a variety of locations in the city’s heart. Filmmakers and producers can now tap into the world of Downtown Cairo through a diverse selection of locations scouted to suit different production needs including apartments, kitchens, bathrooms,
rooftops, balconies and corridors.
