Cinema Radio Hosts CIFF’s Visual Narratives Exhibition in Downtown Cairo

During the 45th Cairo International Film Festival, Cinema Radio offered audiences a different way to experience cinema through Visual Narratives, an exhibition organized by ART 74 and hosted within one of Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment’s landmark Downtown venues.

Running alongside the festival, the exhibition featured immersive installations, photography, video projections, sculptural works, and miniature film set recreations by more than 50 artists. Visitors moved through cinematic atmospheres shaped by light, sound, memory, and spatial storytelling, experiencing film culture beyond the traditional screen.

“For decades, Cinema Radio has held stories within its walls, shaped by film, conversation, and gathering. Allowing it to host an exhibition like this adds another layer of expression, connecting cinema, visual art, and space in a way that feels natural and respectful of its past,” said Karim Shafei, Chairman of Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment.

Long embedded in Downtown Cairo’s cultural life, Cinema Radio continues to find relevance through adaptation. By opening the venue to new forms of artistic expression while preserving its character, the exhibition reflected Al Ismaelia’s approach to keeping heritage spaces active, responsive, and connected to the city around them.

In doing so, Visual Narratives extended the festival beyond cinemas and into the urban fabric itself, reinforcing Downtown Cairo as a place where storytelling continues to unfold across mediums, spaces, and generations.
